One Radiator Stayed Ice Cold While the Rest of the House Heated Perfectly

It was the kind of January morning where you hear the furnace kick on and feel grateful for it. The house was warming up nicely—radiators ticking as they heated, that dry warmth spreading room to room.

Except the guest room.

I walked in to grab something and stopped. The air felt different. Colder. I put my hand on the radiator and it was ice cold, not even lukewarm.

Every other radiator in the house was doing its job. This one sat there like a sculpture.

I did what you’d do. I checked whether the valve was open—it was, turned all the way. I felt the pipe leading into it, thinking maybe the whole line was cold. Nope, the pipe was hot. The heat was getting there; it just wasn’t getting in.

I figured it had to be something simple. Air trapped in the system, maybe, or the valve not quite right. So I started troubleshooting the obvious stuff, the things every homeowner tries first.

That’s where I wasted two hours.
